And I wanted to write the same...

There are only two pictures, both without documentation or resources, that shows trees like this that are claimed to be Dragon trees.
This looks like another type of tree, shaped to look like a Dragon tree.

Can't really see the foliage though... but it is hard to imagine it would be possible to reduce to such a size.

Oh dear...
Yea, after closer investigation, this bonsai may not actually be a dragon blood tree. Fully mature dragon blood trees do branch off in the way that this little bonsai does, and form leaves in that shape, but it takes like 15 years before the first branches appear (according to Wikipedia). The small plug in the picture is confusing to me as well, as it does resemble something more like a pineapple or a bush of some kind than a tree, but I've also never grown any kind of tree from this young of an age, so I dont have any way to assume what it will look like as it grows. If, in a few years, the plugs grow into trees with actual trunks and branches, I assume that it could be bonsai material - do I assume correctly? Are there any kinds of trees that straight up cant be trained?

Yeah but still how would you get to leave smaller? Could you even defoliate it?

I dont know. I assume the "epic" photo is decades old; regularly sized trees take between 20 and 30 years to get those small, branched out trees.

Why waste your time on a spcies that is just clearly not suitable for bonsai. Get a serious tree species instead of a species that never really grows branches. You will have a much better time buitling bonsai from suitable species and it will still be plenty of challenge to get a bonsai going.
