Mimo, which tile color you think is suitable for this tree?

Hi Felidae.
By "tile" you mean penjing tray?
If yes, I prefer white as it is classic choice for penjings and look the best I think.
I use grey marble slabs cause I cannot get my hands on proper penjing trays around here.
But I have seen blue and black trays as well, for me most of them were too colourful but som looked good when blue tray was used and the most place on it was to represent water....that might work too.

Thanks, Mimo! I’m sure at the beginning I won’t find neither, but I’ll do with what I have. I can imagine a light creme color tho...

Little update on this struggler...
Two months in nutshell. Still 2D and ugly af, but I can see some future amelioration. (I try to use same angle images for the comparison)

15 June, after some pruning



29 June, Most of the leaves dropped, but new growth is visible


9 July, Leaf dropping reduced and stronger growth observed. Some yellowing/browning still there.


24 July, I eliminated some dead/unwanted wood for the sake of progression.

10-12 August, Just how it is today. The slight yellowing came from intentional overwatering. I must gave more what it wanted, cause I cannot watering while I’m at work. Few days ago the weather normalized, as the bush.
