I recieved some bonsai seeds and I planted them in August not thinking about the seasons. I have been growing them inside so far. I have 3 types, Jacaranda mimosifolia, linus, and picea. I live in Missouri, and I know I need to winterize the pines but I'm not sure if there ready. They're only about an inch tall and one level of needles of 5 to 8 needles per plant. Should I put them outside for winter? It's just now starting to get cold here too.

I am pretty new to bonsai-ing myself. However, are these trees pines and like outdoor plants? From what I looked up, they look like they are evergreens and outdoor plants. I would have placed them outside all year long, but since you have been growing them inside, just keep them inside.

I would grow the plants inside through the winter, especially since they are young. I would make sure they are mature enough to live outside. As soon as possible, put them outside to grow well.

I don’t know the climate of Missouri, but I know that MOST LIKELY, these trees are outdoors, so try to keep them outside.

If they are doing well, then just keep them growing inside I guess.

Jacaranda will not survive frost. -> Keep inside
Picea and Pinus will not survive the indoors. -> Keep outside, but protect from excessive rain; A bit n the dry side is better.

Note that there is no such thing as bonsai seed. These are just treeseeds.
