Just thought I would share with you what I did this spring.. I had a day out to a bonsai growing field. And in the field I found thr last 2 prunus Mume he had. To be honest.. He kept them for the flowers, and had been less then perfect in maintaining them.
I could not decide which was less ugly, so I decided to take both off his hands, to keep my options open, and allowing to perhaps sell one later on.
I trimmed them back, and left them in the field. Hoping for backbudding. Later this summer I will go there once more, and do a second trim. Hopefully, come spring, they will have lots of buds near the trunk so I can cut back to an open crown and hopefully, pleasing trunkline. I could not decide upon one in March, unfortunately.

They will move into a greenhouse for the next month, as we are expecting a drop in temperatures now. In spring I will let it get settled and in 2020 at some point decide upon styling. Then also will I remove more branches. But as they are finniky when it comes to backbudding, I rather leave too much on them for now.

I don't have a mume yet and I think I do need one. Unfortunately, it's a bit too long a drive. Maybe you can get one for me next time ?

Fun trees, difficult to style but beautiful when in bloom in the middle of the Winter.
I've managed to kill one out of lack of patience, but fortunately I have another one.

As Felideae has disappeared again I am open for offers from people who will be at the Trophy in Genk. Will post updated pictures this weekend, after I trim the one for sale down to fit my car

Come spring, and regrowth I will not sell till next winter, at considerably higher price.
