I've got this powderpuff I want to train them to stand straight up parallel. I am not having much luck finding guides how to do this, mostly just curved and twists.
Is it as easy as just wrapping a wire around both and pulling them in at different areas?

Well. In principle, yes. It is a matter of wrapping a wire around the trunks (Ideally one wire, for both trunks are you can then also move them n relation to eachother if you know what I mean).
BUT..
- The wire needs to be thick enough to hold the shape
- The wire needs to be pliable enough to not damage the bark
For non-conifers mostly aluminium wire is used. In this case, the thickness probably needs to be just less than half the branch thickness.
Before wiring, gently try and bend the trunks to see how flexible they are. I suspect they are, but it could be older than it looks.

In a workshop once the guy said take a piece of the wire as long as your finger, hold it against the branch you want to bend, push it, and see what bends. It the wire bends it isn't thick enough.

Thank you for the information, it is a young one. I've had it a couple months and it's starting to bounce back from weather change and shipping.

Ok I didn't water it for a few days and attempted it tonight but as soon as I started trying to bend it I heard a big crack. I panicked and stopped, then just went for the straight up look.

Looks to me as if it needs to grow first before wiring. I am not surprised it cracked, practice of a piece of branch off a tree first so you can learn how to do it.
