I am a 80yr old total beginner . I have just purchased 2 nursery junipers ( blue point, blue rug). I am keeping them in a screened in porch until I can start working on them. Is there any advise you can give me about their care until march.Being a senior beginner i don’t think I can wait years to work with them. Do you think I can start shaping and repotting them. Would appreciate any help you could give me. Am going to try to send photo’s

Althou not recomended for beginners to start working on newly putshased trees before getting to know the care I think you have a good reason. Just do not do all at once. One year big shops and wiering, next year repotting, the year after that put into bonsai pot is what I consider the fastest and safest way. You will not have a finished bonsai, but you will learn a lot on the way.
Junipers are very hardy, I see no reason to protect them in zone 6 or higher.

Find a bonsai club near you and go to meetings. We always have people bringing trees in, workshops, demonstrations, meetings where we talk, etc. You can find out where to get pots, where to get supplies, and everything else you would want.
Out club has quite a few of us on up there in years, so it can might be a social outlet, too.
The local club can give you some real good advice about the climate. They know what they have done to make trees survive in your combination of rainfall, humidity, and heat.
