Isn't that the idea of the first branch? Form a side-trunk?

In the end, the tree will thicken its branches. And over time you will have to trim them out, and regrow them.

Looking nice.
I have the feeling it is a little tilted to the right, maybe let the apex grow to the left to help balance the tree would feel more comfortable?
