Okay guys, I was doing a little tinkering with some ideas for this tree since I currently have no goal for the look overall. Considering that the scale is so completely off track right now, I wanted to see what it would look like pushing it closer to the scale I want to have with this tree.

Forgive the horrible paint sketch but I think it conveys the basic branch structure. I would love to see this expanded upon with someone with drawing talent, but this will have to suffice for now.

I would be rebuilding the entire branch structure, and the size of the trunk, which is currently about 2cm will not change (as in I am not purposely thickening the trunk). the trunk leans toward the viewer from this perspective. The total height of the tree will be in the neighborhood of ~12-15cm.

Hopefully I can push the backbudding far enough to get growth in these areas without "chopping" but being a ficus, as long as it is healthy I don't see why it would not recover from a chopping if required.

BTW the pot size in red is what I would like to see the tree in eventually.

What do you guys think?

You did read the "get it healthy" comments right?

That being said.. I think this would create an image of a ball of green on a stump, to be honest. The leaves will reduce somewhat, but not smaller than 2-3cm, I think. So, you would have leaves that are fairly big, compared to the 'trunk'. I think it would be good to let it grow a little bit more first.

That being said.. As I am writing this, I am thinking of a little project I have underway, where I do not let the trunk grow myself of a similar plant..

I did read the comments. That will be goal number one first and foremost.

That was my concern too. Bringing the branches into scale is fine but I was unsure if the leaves would be able to follow suit. It sounds unlikely.

I guess it's a training pot for this little guy!
