I inherited this plant from my mum who passed away 8 years ago. It is about 40 years old. Any ideas as to what it is? It is really healthy. I thought it was some kind of succulent, it is delicate, and drops its leaves easily. It lives in the summer house until the weather cools then goes indoors. It has a huge trunk and a great bonsai shape.

40 years sounds like not likelly to me. I have seen 20 years old twice the trunk sice. If it had been this healthy growing for 40 years it would have been much bigger.
