Hello everyone,

I need to do a big project for school. This project needs to be an investigation (testing something, don't know how you say it in English) where you need to show your experience and knowledge of one of your subjects on school. Of course I immediately know what I wanted to do (one of my subjects I study on school is Biology), 名媛直播 of course!

I need to test something, so my question: Does someone have ideas what I can test for bonsai?

I'm curious to hear some ideas, thanks for your help!

How much time do you have?

If you have enough time (months); what quantity of fertizer is optimal (take 10 of the same, young plants, planted in individual containers, and test!)

I like that idea Oscar .. measure and track how fast the specimens grow in each container. Nice.

I've around one year time now, and I need to spend a minimum amount of 80 hours of work on this project.

I wish i had projects like this when i was in school.
I don't know if this is that fits your requirements for the project....
Get a few cheap trees at the nursery (the same kind) put one in a regular plant pot with regular soil.Trim the second trees roots and plant it in a bonsai pot with bonsai soil. put them in the same area outside and document the difference in growth.
So, a root pruning experiment is an idea...

Ok i have an idea, do a soil experiment, its nice and simple, and you could integrate alot of options into it. So what you can do is buy say 6 trees of the same type, age and health, they dont have to be big expensive trees, and then plant each of them in a different soil, maybe some of them could be planted in not very well draining soil, or they could be put in soil that does not contain alot of nutrients in it. I duno, this is a rough idea but maybe 6 trees could be too much or too little depending on your experiment. But i feel a soil experiment could work well, you could test things like wether or not trees need certain macro nutrients like Nitrogen or Potassium etc! Like i said its a rough idea but run with it!

bonsai makes a tough topic...you would have to broaden you subject to growth habits of trees.thinking on this suject i would go for seedling growth and study how light afects growth.you have light direction, intensity, duration, even color.depending on how large af a thing you want here you could go into different spiecies groups and see how they are effected differently under the same light conditions... i could go on and on science is sweet .this could be done indoors so weather isnt an issue and when you are done you will have a ton of new starter trees to play with :silly:

p.s. you could also start with seeds they are cheap and if you go the multi species route you will be able to get yourself more "unique" trees even conifers ...ok i think my brainstorming is done ... best of luck
