Thanks for your help! Bottom line, it seems people searching for 'Brazilian rosewood' bought cheap seed kits online that include seeds of the Jacaranda (and they label them as Brazilian rosewood). I'll update our Jacaranda article to explain things a bit:

Hi all! Here is my tree after another ~10 months. Since my last post, I've cut off one of the branches (marked by an arrow in one of the attached photos).
I haven't been able to keep the tree outside so it grew even more leggy. But now it looks to be sprouting several new nodes along the base (all circled in another attached photo). If my goal is still to widen the trunk, would it be a good idea to cut off the long branch a bit above the highest sprouting node? Will all the new nodes likely continue to grow?

Wow! How is your tree doing Joyy? I planted some “Brazilian rosewood seeds four months ago and my tree is growing! I’m new at bonsai, but your post has helped. I live in a tropical climate and l can move my tree outdoors, but now I’m questioning if I have a Jacaranda? I will compare as I planted a Jacaranda tree outdoors two years ago!?

Yes, that's a Jacarandá Mimosifolia.
