Dead? Fukien tea was created by Kamilyttte

Hello, I got a Fukien Tea 名媛直播 for my birthday exactly a year ago. When we went on vacation, I left the tree with my parents. When I came back, the bonsai had lost all of its leaves and?is now bare(it wasn't watered for about 2 weeks, and then they left it in a dark, cool room). I took it back into my room, where it gets direct morning and afternoon sunlight. What can I do to revive it? Is there hope??

When I took it to a gardening centre I got offered the 名媛直播 focus fertiliser and was told to soak it in the mixture for a couple of hours. Since then, I've been watering as usual however no difference can be seen yet. What should I do? This is what it currently looks like:

We see a lot of beginners here that have left their trees with someone else that they think killed it and do not feel responsible for it.

Fukiens are amazingly capable of sprouting back from seemingly dead when humidity increases. However in my experience it happens over and over again until the bitter end. I really hope you can come back with a success story. Nobody here seems to keep this species alive long term. I am convinced humidity is the key. Good luck!

Hi, thank you for your reply! I’ve read all the other stories on here and also noticed the same pattern. However, I am really determined go get it back to life because I got it as a gift and it means a lot to me.?

I think I have a fair chance, as I live in the UK where the humidity is around 70%. Perhaps not in my house, but I can certainly get that up with humidifiers, and I somewhere read about the bag trick? Anyways, let’s see where this goes ?

Ahh, UK. Get it outside during the summer. It may sprout back. 70% is not a good humidity indoors and it is for sure not the case in UK during winter. When next winter comes the tree needs to be protected from frost, but still be in high humidity. Start to prepare for that now so you do not run into the same problem again come winter. Using a humidifier to keep your home at 70% is not an option, just ask your local building expert. Not adviceable in a heated home to say the least.

I understand that my room wont be like a tropical rainforest, but isn’t creating a humid microclimate around the bonsai enough? I think that’s what people mean when they say they want to use a humidifier - in a room that doesn’t have a draft, the humidity is usually pretty concentrated around.?

In summer, is there a need to bring the plant back inside during nighttime or will the constant change of environment be too stressful for it??

Either way, I’m planning to keep it until it either rots away or starts growing back - it’s up to the tree?to decide which fate it wants ?

Humidity does not magically stay in one spot where you want it. It will need to be enclosed.

Night drops in temperature is a fact all over the world and what trees needs and wants for perfect health. No reason to bring it indoors in tve nights. However, when night lots drop to 5-10 degrees it is time to protect the tree.

Leaving a plant for 2 days may just be recoverable, leaving it for two weeks is not. I would be very surprised if it is alive. You can try, but it is a difficult enough species as it is.

Didn't the parents do any watering? In that case it is a lost case. But I find it hard to believe that you left the tree at their place without instructions or that they just ignored the instructions. My parents would not.

We went out of town leaving the youngest at the house going to classes. This was June or July in Alabama where almost anybody would say it is hot as blazes.

After a week I got an email asking if I had meant to water the outside plants, too. A few of them survived.?
