This plant is close to dead. You have it inside, that is killing the plant. Get it outside now, cut the dead of and hope.

What i meant was, i had it inside for the moment, its been outside since it became warm for a bit....and i have another bonsai, same time inside vs outside, that ones flourishing....

but i just repotted it and stuck it outside again.....and watered it....and trimmed the brown....so well see.....

Hi Daisuke,

Gently remove the plant from its pot and inspect the roots to determine their condition, whether they are alive, dead, or dying. Place the plant in a dish and apply soluble fertilizer to the roots, allowing it to soak for about 10 minutes. Repeat this process daily.

Alternatively, line the inside of the pot with a thin layer of Peat Moss or sphagnum moss, then return the plant, which has been soaked in fertilizer, to the pot. It may be a snug fit, but the goal is to encourage root growth with the new medium.

Thanks!

So many wrongs here. Some things that we repeat in this forum:

Never keep a temperate tree indoors.
Never repot an unhealthy tree.
Never fertilize a newly repotted tree.
Never bottom water a tree unless the soil has turned hydrophobic.

This tree needs sun and water. If it has been indoors for a while it is important to make the transition slowly. First in full shade and then gradually move it to full sun during a 4-6 weeks period.

If the tree has skipped a dormancy, it will struggle all summer. A good winter outdoors and it may sprout back come spring 2025. But it will never be the same tree. Some major restyling will be needed after one or two full seasons outdoors.

Good luck!

So I only kept it indoors during the night, during the day, i put both my bonsais outside.....that was before i was told they can be left outside all year long..I had a 3 months stint in florida, where they pretty much lived on a covered awning, getting sun and rain, so they were out ALL the time i was there...so now they basically live outside....except during severe thunderstorms/hail, then i move them under my awning to be protected and then inside if it becomes worse......otherwise they live outdoors now.......they did not live outdoors during this last winter, so it may have never gone "dormant" which may be the whole issue......

I have never bottom watered either of them, they get water pretty much like rain.....but i water them till it drips out the bottom......and fertilization every 6 months (as per the instructions from the bonsai place i got them from, with the supplied fertilizer)

Neither of them have been repotted, except the big one that i'm having issues with right now, mainly to check the roots and whatnot......so its in a different pot, only so i could gently get the dirt off and check his roots.....i'll do a more thorough check after i get off work

Thank you for the advice and i'll see what i can do to help save what i can.

Trees evolved outdoors with annual changes in temperature, light, etc. They did not evolve migrating to different climates. They do not see advertisements for air conditioning or heaters and don't think they should live in narrow temperature bands.?

Keep the tree outside and let it have the environment it evolved in.

In high wind situations you definitely should protect them from wind, but not from what we think of as extreme temperatures.?

?Fertilize every 6 month? That sounds wrong to me. I guess they ment Fertilize for 6 months in summer and nothing in winter. I add control release fertilizer for the spring push and add low amount of fertilizer in my watering can every watering in summer.

I would advice not to work on roots in summer. That is a task for the dormant season.
