Hi,

Following my post about the security of bonsai I'm afraid there has been another horrible incident. It involve someone taking a mugo pine and throwing it.
It was left bare rooted and I put it back in its pot immediately. I'm thinking of wiring the pots to the trees for the future.

The question is:
I had about 6 months worth of growth on the tree, newer needles were yellow/green but it seemed pretty healthy. I noticed some thinners roots that travelled to new areas of soil were ripped and its now if you like, back to what it used to be in terms of roots. Does this affect the growth and potentially death of the tree? what are my next step for the tree considering autumn is approaching?

Even if you do not have neighbours trowing your pants around, you should always wire your trees in the pot. Otherise after repotting they are blown out just by the wind or a cat passing by. Also, they are more stable, less movement means better rooting into the new substrate.

Yes. Damaging the roots of pine can cause them to die. Time will tell.
