Hi there, I have recently purchased a fully grown Metasequoia (Dawn Redwood) forest collection.
It is left outdoors (apartment balcony) and I'm watering the tree every other day as suggested by the seller.
I'm also misting the leaves a fair bit... perhaps this is not a good idea.
Some white marks are appearing on some of the leaves. I'm worried this could be a disease, or perhaps I'm misting the leaves too much?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks

I'm watering and misting it with my local tap water. Is this going to be a problem?
Also there is a bit of green mold in my mister. I used to keep it near the window.
Do you think that spraying this dirty water onto the leaves could be affecting them?

It does look like mineral deposits from your misting. I buy distilled (purified) water, or I've found Poland Spring water seems to leave no mineral spots. Don't water with distilled water as it can leach minerals. If you have something growing in your sprayer, I'd suggest you please clean it or change it. Who knows what's growing there? Let me know if the blotches go away. I suspect it may take a while as the minerals need to dissolve.

Hi. I think I was perhaps misting too often.
I'm slowly adapting as to when the tree should be watered but any advice on misting would be appreciated.
I know it probably depends on where the tree is kept, how much sunlight is receives etc, but as a general rule, should you mist when the leaves appear dry or do you mist whenever you water? etc
Thanks
