Hi,

I have some pests in the soil of my Jade bonsai, I have just picked this up from the nursery and am new to the space.

What are these pests and are they harmful to my tree? They seem to be rather abundant so I am worried I may have picked a tree with an infestation for my first tree. Any help appreciated!

Fungus gnats. Probable cause: overwatering.

Thank you for the response, should I just not water anymore for a bit and let the soil dry out, or should I employ some other way to get rid of them?

Or are these critters not even a real problem to have for the tree?

Not really, but overwatering is, especially for a Jade.
