I have a jacaranda mimosifolia that has some sort of scale or aphid I think. Not exactly sure what it is. I was recommended to spray with a rubbing alcohol, dish soap, and water mix twice a week. That has worked a little but they are still very present. When they do die they turn brown. And it is causing some new buds to deform. At first the buds were mostly on the stems. Now they are on the leaves and there are little white things dangling from the leaves. If anyone has any recommendations I would love to known what to do!

The only way I managed to get rid of measly bugs and scale from Jacarandás (natives to the place I live) was putting them outside.
Some of the more constant spraying with the insecticidal formula you have been using killed the youngest ones, so be careful.

I really cannot see if these 30 pixel specks are aphids or something else.

Thanks, I'll give that a try when it is spring. Right now it is below 0C where I live. The texture is so fine it seems hard to get rid of the bugs. I'll keep the spray light and be patient!

I'm not familiar with this species of tree, but adding a systemic insecticide (soil applied) could be helpful. It is hard to tell from your pictures but it might be aphids. They generally feed on the more tender branches, leaf stems and undersides of leaves. Once established, you will starch to see/feel a sticky substance (called honeydew) that the aphids excrete. Using an insecticide that is efficacious on the pest you are trying to eliminate is key. Not all insects are susceptible to the same active ingredients.

There are flies and mosquitoes in my mom's plants, they keep on coming back. How can we spray insecticide to the insects without harming the plants?

Hi, could you please start your own thread? Otherwise discussions get very confusing, with two topics in one thread
