Hi all,

Any idea what these black spots are on the bark of this trident maple? I don’t think these are normal, but I could be wrong.

Is it wet? what does it feel like? will it rub off with your fingers? That's what I would do first maybe a soft toothbrush and see if it will come off.

It's hard, almost like a callus. I'll see if I can't get it off with a brush. Thanks!
