Hey, I recently picked up a young elm. My larger elm is currently at the the nursery because it got the same fungus.
Since its freezing here and the elm dropped all its leaves I decided to bring it in the house. It started a whole bunch of new buds and growth and has been doing great. Unfortunately this new elm is now plagued with the same fungus that attacked my other one.
I'm attaching 3 photos, one at 100x another at 400x and one of just the tree.
What happens is new growth comes no problem, then immediately this fungus attacks and starts killing the new growth. It then withers and dies back. I can keep the new growth coming, it will just get attacked though. I don't know what it is about the environment of my house that would perpetuate it.
Please help!

do yu have pictures of plant parts affected by fungus? That would be more usefull than pictures of some blownup plant hairs.

You bet, here they are. Those hairs ARE the fungi, not part of the plant In the attached you'll see the leaves starting to wither and die. In a day or so I expect it to reach the stem part and for that to wither till the whole thing goes.
