Identify: white solid thing covered my Juniper was created by Aykut
Posted 7 years 11 months ago #33571I know there are topics similar to this one, I have read them but I think my case is a bit different and I am having hard time identifying the matter on my tree.
It seems not to be directly on the soil but on the exposed roots instead. It is white and nt soft. So it might not be mold or fungus I guess.
Please see attached two pics of my tree, excuse me for the quality but it is visible still.
Thank you very much in advance for sharing your knowledge and time.

Posted 7 years 11 months ago #33588Also, I am keeping my tree just next to the window and I keep the curtains and windows open all the time for ventilation and sunlight. My house is not eastward, I have a bit of sunlight at certain hours like towards evening though. Do you think would it be enough?
Lastly, I have liquid fertilizer. Do I need to use with water from time to time?
Thank you again very much, I find your answers highly rewarding.

You shouldn't use bottled water. That is a waste of money and plastic.
1) If you want to spend money it is better to invest on a water softening system for your house. Not only your plants will benefit from this, but your water will test better. If you drink coffee or tea, it will greatly improve the taste as well.
2) Your water my come from well water, which can be hard, do some research and find if some nearby town has softer water. You can go there and collect water yourself.
3) Use a carbon filter (like those brita filters). This will soften the water, not as much as a water softening system but it should do it.

Also, you might have already killed the tree by keeping it indoors, it doesn't matter if you keep the windows open, lights, or even throw a spell on it. Take it outdoors immediately and cross your fingers.
