I have a tree in training that Im thinking about putting on a slab. Im pretty much afraid of it, because I can't tell how the waterings will go. I might kill myfirst tree on a slab

Why are you afraid of killing a bonsai on a slab?

A similar drainage system is used in farming in the US, called tiling (not tilling), to provide drainage in fields that typically hold too much water for cash crops to thrive. Some research on this may aid in the implementation of an effective or improved system for bonsai.

That's a very nice tree. Thank for sharing the journey.

I simply never tried it. I can't imagine if it dries out quicker or maybe it holds water for a longer time because of the keto. I also can't imagine how I know if watering is needed.

I haven't read anything about this technique yet, though
