Some of you might know I am taking classes in Dusseldorf from Werner Busch. This weekend was a mid-term exam, and I styled a very old pine.
Top is before and after.
Bottom is the future, as is now, and the right: Where the plan is to go once the tree is stronger (It lost well over 50% of the foliage this weekend)

It looks really good already, and the plan is wonderful.
Do you think you will manage to do such a big jin in a Sylvestris? I wonder if the wood is hard enough.

The wood on these pines is super stable. A half cm thick branch can take a decade to decay if in the air (on the ground they still stay fairly long). That is not an issue. The main concer is distraction. Clean lines might work better than overly present Yins. The bark is of a maturity that it needs nothing to keep the attention. .
