In november 2020 I received the invite to stop by a house of someone who recently passed away, and had a lot of bonsai. When I got there, it was clear that the old owner had not been able to care for the trees properly for a bit. One of the pieces I looked at was this zelkova forest.

The forest was in a poor condition, with rotting wood, dead branches and ugly pruing scars. Because of that, the price for the forest was too high and I left, leaving my details in case it did not sell in the days to come.
A week ago I got an offer but had to drop by within a few hours. So, this was short before a trader would clean out the garden.
The forest was too big to fit the car, so with a tree saw it was chopped in 2 pieces on the spot. At home, I took the bits apart and barerooted al the trees.

Then I spent a few days putting the pieces together in a new forest, in good substrate, trimmed and wired:

And it entered spring, One of the trees taking untill a few weeks ago to start growing. Today a good trim on top to support lower branches. And I am happy with where it stands now.
