Yes formal upright is one option. If formal upright is what you want to do, then it is what you should do.
What about size? How high do you want your finished cryptomeria formal upright to be?

Formal upright will be a difficult style, the trunk has bends that will be difficult to correct. The taller the tree the thinner the trunk will look, so I would not go as tall. It needs years in the ground to thicken the trunk, then you can start styling. informal upright would be much better, and easier to do. This is a very young plant and needs growing on while you think about how to style.

So do you think that for the moment I should only wait or is it better if I already start to do some job for the future?

I would plant it in the ground or into the next size up pot, Water and fertiliser this year. Then think if you really want it that high, I would not but that is me and it is your tree. It is best to allot the apex to grow unchecked to thicken the trunk. I would not prune anything this year, just let it grow.?

For informal upright, I would apply wire and create mowement in the trunk around now. But not at all urgent. It can wait a year or two as well.Take your time learning and planning. Do not rush it and learn the way suits you best. Join a club, study trees in nature, vuy a book, look at many youtube videos.
Once you do it, it is one of the most crucial design steps for informal upright.?
