Hello, I just started out on my bonsai journey.
I've been pretty full on over the last month, watching youtube channels and reading several books on bonsai basics.
I bought my first trees this week, a 8 year old Chinese elm and a 3 year olds San Jose Juniper.
As the elm is already styled im going to leave that alone for abit.
The juniper however is a started tree and I was wondering when is the best time to start things like wiring.
is it too early at 3 year, it is only small no more than a 8mm diameter trunk.
any response appreciated,
Dan

Without pictures it's always hard to give suggestions, but if your juniper is 3yo then it's definitely too early to do any serious styling.
At the moment you just want it to grow, a lot and in an "interesting way", for a few more years.
Here some hint of what you possibly want your journey to be:
(then followup to part 2 for the next steps you'll be doing in a few years)

Thanks for the reply, I’ve included a couple pics of the little fella. I wasn’t planning on doing any styling straight away but I thought maybe some initial wiring in the following growing season might be beneficial.
