Hi all,
I picked up a new tree and didnt spot this on the trunk till later. then got me worrying and looking at the leaves they look like new leaves but are actually mature and dont look like they have hardened off properly.
I have gone through all my books and internet but cant find anything thing that looks like this.
Any ideas what it is and if its anything to be worried about?
it feels quite dry and it can be scraped off with a scalpel without removing any of the bark.
as its new i dont want to introduce it to my other trees until i know its healthy!

Very hard to tell. I am tempted to say it is just old algea but.. Not sure. Can you scrub them off with a toothbrush?

Not with tooth brush but with sharp scalpel blade they will come off. Dry and dusty.
See infant work out if it's an infection or its just been in a container for weeks and that's why the leaves look a bit sorry and it's just marks on the bark and nothing else
