Hello everyone! I have wanted to get into bonsai for a while and last month I bought my first tree, a small sageretia which I have named Eldergleam :D

This is my first plant ever and I’ve been reading a lot about bonsai and it is growing beautiful sprouts and not dying!! I am considering pruning it back now I’ve had it for a few weeks. I was just wondering the best way to cut it, like do I just try and maintain it’s original shape, and keep the ends of the twigs near to the last leaves? Or is there a different way? I read something about cutting back by 2 leaves? This is a big first step and I don’t want to go wrong!

Thanks so much guys. Attached is a picture of my tree :)

The best thing to do is put it outside, water it, and go to the How-To section on the website here and start reading. There is practically nothing to do between now and fall other than watering and some fertilizing. Read about watering first, then fertilizing, then read about everything else.
The next best thing to do is join a local club, That might be hard right now with the current restrictions.

hello!
You're not gonna believe this, but your tree looks a lot like my first tree.

These are created by the tens of thousands. To be honest, they do not really have much to do with artistic bonsai. The persons working them, may prune or wire hundreds of trees in a row, and they all start to look alike.
