I have an idea on how I want to start trimming one of my new pomegranates.
Before I do, I just wanted to make sure I'm not starting too soon.

It's all new to me and I've read it's ok to prune throughout the growing season. I've also read for pomegranate you should wait till winter when the leaves are off.

I think I just got a little excited because I see how I want to start setting this one, I'm just looking for some other opinions on timing.

I just pruned my pomegranates today. In your case, I would focus on getting a bigger trunk though, and only remove branches that are getting too big.
