I bought this juniper in the spring vey cheaply - perhaps not surprisingly given its shape makes it of little interest to most nursery customers!
I had the notion that I could create some sort of literati type thing out of it. Its much healthier than it was and I have turned to thinking what I might do with it. The more I look, the more I think that perhaps its just too tall and sparse even for literati and am struggling to know what, if anything, i could do with it. Its about 5ft tall with the pot... I would be interested in any observations and thoughts. Always useful to have different eyes looking at things...

It’s a bit hard to understand the actual shape of it without a plain background, tbh, but I certainly see some interesting chances for a literati indeed.
The main issue is that a lot of the existing branches would have to go, and only a couple should remain: too much to do the styling in a single take without the risk of stressing the plant too much and risk losing it.
I’d try to come up with a workable idea and try to promote growth on the branches you’re going to keep while reducing the others, but in 3 or 4 years this could indeed be a nice one...

Thanks. Fair comment on the photo. I have taken a much better one which gives a clearer idea. My difficulty is with it being so tall and so bare for most of its length. Perhaps if I choose one or two trunks to use, bend them fairly severely and jin the rest over time...

If going for a literati, I would use the left trunk (if you manage to separate it from the right one) and bend the hell out of it, rebars, rafia, bicycle rubber tires, wedges.... The works.
Of course it may die.
But for a bonsai with this level of bare growth, long neck and no foliage near the trunk, literati is the only possibility in my opinion. Or... Air layering the top, but I don't see a good tree out of it.
@leatherback did some serious bending last season. Ask him for advice.
