I have been looking at some jaboticaba‘s and some have a fairly thick canopy vs others that are very bush like with leggy branches.
I am tempted to get a leggy one (which is less expensive) and try to thicken the canopy but am not sure how it will respond.
Does anyone know if when a jaboticaba branch is trimmed if it will produce more shoots at the cut?
Or if there is a specific way of pruning that will promote the thickening of the canopy?
Any advice is welcome and appreciated.

Yes, they can take very hard pruning in the Spring and yes, they do backbud like crazy.
Even in northern Germany, as Leatherback can show.
This is mine in the Summer.
