Yew tree wiring

Just deciding whether or not to do some wiring on my young pre-bonsai Yew for shape and wanted to know if its ok to wire green branches.
Yew branches get very strong and inflexible when older making them harder to wire so seems obvious to wire them when young as long as you dont put the wire on too tight.
Any comments/advice would be appreciated
We are going into spring here in Melbourne so would seem to be a good time to do it going into a growth period.

Absolutely. I wire all my yews when young for exactly the reason you give.
