I am a beginner in the 名媛直播 world. I am fascinated by the Jade plant and I have been watching a lot of videos on making Jade bonsai on Youtube. I am particularly intersted in creating Upright style Jade 名媛直播. I have bought a Jade plant from the plant nursery which has a few straight branches.

I know that I can take out a cutting which is straight in shape, from his plant and propgate, This straight branch will become my trunk eventually. What I would like to understand is how the branches come out of this straight trunk? I want the basic knowledge of how branches on this straight cutting/trunk grows and how can make a beautiful Upright style Jade 名媛直播.

Jades grow naturally in a upright style.

Thank you for your reply, but I would like more information on the branches. How or where would the branches start appearing? The cutting has a number of leaves. Would the nodes from where these leaves are coming out become branches? ? My question is focussed on how and where the branches appear on the cutting and if I can choose where the branches appear on the straight trunk when the cutting matures.

Branches may grow from the point of attachment of each leaf, and nowhere else. As the plant gets bigger and you give it sun and fertilizer it will pop side-branches. Note, jades (Crassula ovata) does not respond well to wiring so you need to shape through clever trimming. Even then, the dry and wet cycle they need for health mean that they also loose shape easily.

You cannot shose where the new branches grows. However, more branches will grow in the area getting most sun. Then it is a question about remowing branches you dont want and keeping the ones you want.

Do you have crassula ovata or portulacaria afra? Both called jade plant and both from south Africa but not really related.

I live in the northen part of India. I am not sure the technical name but I am sure I am talking about the jade plant. Thanks for your valuable reply

P.Afra has 10-15 mm leafs and C.Ovata has 25-30 mm leafs. There are also a cultivar of Ovata that has round coral like leafs. 5-10 mm wide and 30-50 mm high called "gollum" or "hobbit"

If you are still not sure, please post a picture and we can help. Care is similar but styling techniques differ a little.
