Important design conciderations in initial styling:

Style: I dont see that you have shoosen style yet.

Defining branch: I dont see that you have shoosen which branch to grow as defining branch yet.

Apex: I dont see that you have shoosen which Apex to grow yet.

Mowement: i think it is too straight and needs more Mowement.

Silouette: I dont see that you have shoosen which silouette to use in the future.

I have seen much worse first atempts, but I cannot see what was the goal with the design process was and I cannot see how to take it further.

Improvements in your art would be to make up a plan before start prunning.

You asked for honest opinions :)

It was repotted this week. The main branch was not flexible.

I am sorry but I have to agree with Tropfrog.
I do not see a styling here yet.

All these branches can be placed exactly where you want them. Perhaps your wire is too thin?

Use of proper materials and tools make this process a lto easier for you, but also for the tree. If you wire a branch, you should be able to move it to the posiion you want it to be in, let go, and it stays there. If it moves back, the wire used is too thin.

A good excersize is to sketch the tree you would like to build before you wire it out. Make a plan, then execute.

since it was recently repotted, I wouldn't do anything to it for a year, just watered and fertilized

Would rewiring without pruning still stress the plant? I removed its wires over a month ago.

A full on wiring is one of the most stressfull things in bonsai. But I am out of this threads. I cannot get a handle on what you are telling us. All the timeslines seems to change every time you posts.
