Hello. I have some trees ( Ficus Tiger Bark, Bnejamina, Hornbeam, Chinse elm) and I planted them in bigger containers so I can let them grow for some years. Do you think I should still prune them at some point or simply leave them for 2 years so they can grow vigurous. My plan is to let them grow a thick trunk and become healthy, but I'm not sure whether I should prune them sometimes.

if you already have a project for each of your trees, you can cut the branches that are misplaced and nothing else, just watered and fertilized

Yep, you'll have to prune misplaced branches, and balancing pruning, like to favour a specific branch, to change leader and so on... But selection pruning and energy directioning pruning is kind of different than maintance pruning...

The elm absolutelly needs pruning back a few times during the season. They grow shoots 30-40 cm per month. I see no reason to grow them unless you are aiming for a much bigger tree.
