I bought this bonsai pot from "BosaiIkebana" in Barcelona. It is the right size, shape and colour for my outdoor Gingko. But when I brought it back home to Sweden I noticed that it has a hair-line crack in the rim. I can put this crack at the back of the tree but is this going to cause me trouble later on ..... the whole pot falling apart into two halves perhaps?

It could do, particularly when it comes to re potting I have done it where I was trying to get the tree out of the pot and it fell apart. I assum you can't send it back?

That's not good news. The crack does not extend beyond the rim but I suppose it doesn't matter if the fault is already there. No, I may never return to Barcelona so replacing it is pretty much out of the question. I will be planting the gingko into it within the next couple of days and I guess I'll just have to hope for the best. If it holds together for two years I'll consider myself fortunate and if it doesn't then I have learned a good lesson in choosing pots.

If it cracks further, it will be in winter.

Get some ceramic glue. A brand name around here would be Gorilla Glue, but something that says it glues every thing. Put on some plastic gloves and squeeze a drop into the crack, then another, then another until you have the whole crack glued. That will keep it from expanding, and keep water from getting into the crack and freezing.
You could get the same result without gloves, of course. Don't.

Wow, that sounds like good advice! I'll have a look on Monday to see what I can find.

Is it a crack that was formed AFTER the pot was backed? It looks to me like a crack that has been there already. In te latter cse, it is not a crack anymore. and you need not worry.
Is there glaze inside the space? Or is it really split

The pot cracked during firing. I would contact the seller.
