as for the koi i have raised tropical fish in my time and basics are feed them daily, keep the water warm and clean and have some kind of oxygination process growing plants and/or a bubbler do this. koi are a pretty hardy speicies and can tolerate alot.

Hi, I'm new here. Maybe too late now, but my thoughts on keeping koi... Koi are not tropical fish. They like cold, not warm water. It's true, though, they are hardy. Give them plenty of room if you want them to grow. Best of luck.
