First post on 名媛直播 Empire! Very exciting. Need some guidance on soil for trees growing on. I have ordered some trees from a reputable tree nursery and they will arrive bare root in mid-late winter.
I plan on putting all of them into big plastic pots so that they can grow on for a while.
The nursery said that you can re pot these trees into a mix of 80% bark compost and 20% pumice and that this should be OK for all species. I am wondering if this is alright? Or if I should use the mix that I normally use for my bonsai trees in their small pots? (I use different soils for my conifers and deciduous trees and they are doing alright)
I don't want to spark a massive debate over what soil is better. I only want a safe 100% fool proof mix that my trees will happily live in while in large containers.
Trees are: Picea Glauca, Chinese Elm, Japanese Maple, Japanese Black Pine.
I have attached my personal soil recipe in case anyone is curious about what mix I use for my potted bonsai trees.
Thanks in advance!

If you buy it from a reputable tree grower, and they give you recommendations, why would you want input from a bunch of people you do not know on a forum?
You can use either. Whatever you are comfortable with. Soils are not too complex. Ensure they drain well. Have some way of aerating. Provive enough mass to stop the tree from tipping over (Unless you wire them in the pot which I would not do if you are going to grow them out).

Good question. They grow their trees in the ground with a general soil mix of bark compost and pumice, and then sell them bare rooted. They mentioned that they don't grow in containers which is why I thought I should seek advice on a safe mixture.
Your right about the soil choice, I guess as long as the basic needs are met then they should grow on fine.
Thanks
