Hello,
This is my first post here but I’ve really gotten into bonsai about a year and a half ago. So this spring is really my first spring when I’ve done some repotting and seen changes in my trees since i acquired them. As we all know, soil composition is the never ending debate but I wanted to throw this out there for comment. I live in East County San Diego where we don’t get the coastal whether, it gets quite hot out here during the peak of summer. Due to the warmer climate My soil mixture is as follows:
20% potting soil
40% lava rock
40% pumice
I think this seems like a reasonable mixture for decent moisture retention, structure, and airiation in my soil. Anybody see anything blatantly wrong with this?

Not at all, very usual here in hot Brazil.
