My guess is that cuttings would work more quickly.
I would not use adenium for bonsai though.

because from seed will take several years before you have something of any size. Cuttings are faster. And you know what color you have

I am talking about making this into a bonsai. Seedling is not the correct word, I guess. Purchased it today and it has buds

All adenium that I have seen are pretty much a parody on bonsai. But each to their own.
