Summer repot for soil change with no root pruning? was created by Vanboom

It is July here in Missouri, temps in the mid 80s this week. I'm have a red maple in training in bad soil that is not draining. It is humid in the Summer here and the soil is staying water-logged. I had collected it from my yard as a seedling two years ago and potted it at a time when I did not have any aggregate so it is in a mix of potting soil and some turface. The tree is healthy, but new growth is weak.

Is it possible to repot in Summer into new proper soil with as little root disturbance as possible?

It's July everywhere.
I would not repot a maple in the summer.

How can you change the soil if you do not disturb the roots? Impossible. Tilt the tree a little if it is staying too wet, but do not re pot.
