Hello, I have 5 rocky mountain pine that are one month old in a small dish. I've never grown anything from seed before but picked up a kit and they are growing much faster than anticipated. The dish isn't very deep and I'm concerned about crowding the roots or them getting tangled together. Should I repot them to individual pots now?
I'm in canada and the seeds were sewed march 14 if that matters.

I would take them outside as soon as it is safe above freezing and leave them there for at least a year before separating them.

A year, wow. I plan on making a ledge to put them on outside my window as I'm in an apartment, there is a roof 2 feet below my window but it gets full of water when it rains. They can handle direct sunlight at that size?

Do these pots have holes? If so, they could stay in there.
On the other hand, if you have well draining substrate, and suitable pots, you might as well plant them up individually. Be carefull, they are brittle at this stage.

Ideally you would have sown these outside. Now you have to wait for frost to pass. And yes, sun.

Thanks, I was a little surprised so many seeds sprouted. Much faster than the kit said. So far I have 5 rocky mountain pine, 4 Norway spruce and 3 blue Jacaranda.
I do have pots and picked up some fast draining soil, didn't know if they should go right into bonsai soil yet, I see a few sites sell premixed soil.

There's no need for bonsai soils... Any soil mix with good drainage and aerated is fine, I mean, you can use simple garden soils... Having a fluffy texture helps, as roots will find less resistence to grow tru' it... I like to mix a bit of this coco coir that you germinated them on...

If there is a flat roof two feet down. And you may use it from the owner.
You can put down some rubber tiles(to protect the roofing) and put a cementblok or someting ontop it, where you place your tree's. That way you can see them from the window, and they are not standing in water. Tie the pot to the cementblock, to prevent it from falling over with strong winds. Not really sure if it is possible, but just an idea.
