This is my first time getting into bonsai, my son brought this from school, I’ve had it for about 5 months, just potted in this bonsai pot, I know it’s not the right soil, any suggestions?

Not many here put small seadlings in bonsai pots. There are really no reason.
I dont know the reason for the store, do you hooe for the tree to fuse with the store? I dont think that will happen.
I think you shoosed the right kind of soil. No reason to put small seadlings in expensive bonsai soil. A good organic potting mix is ok.
The most important thing in repotting cannot be evaluated from a picture like this. How much of the old soil remains and what work has been done to the roots?
