Hello! I have just begun my journey into the bonsai world, and I was hoping someone might be able to help me out. I have taken a seed that was grown in my backyard and planted it, and have been caring for it since for the past 7 months. I was wondering when and if I need to repot my maple, and if anyonr had any additional comments on other things to consider, it would be much appreciated. Attached is a photo of the maple (appr. 5 inches) for reference. It isn't clear in the photo, but it has two large red leaves, two small red leaves, and three small green leaves.

Repotting is done every 2-3 years on mature trees. Yours sounds like a young sapling, it can go without Repotting for at least 5 years, proboably a lot longer. However you can up pot to a bigger pot when the roots starts to fill up the pot.

I do hope it is inside for the picture only? This needs to be outside.
There is no need to repot. The pot is large enough for the time being.
