Hello all,
I am about to repot an olive tree I have and was wondering what are some recommendation for soil? I see that there are a lot of varieties of olive tree soil but I also see there are a variety of olive tree bonsai soil mixes. So I am left unsure what to get.

I have used Akadame, but also akadama and pumice, as long as it is free draining it will be fine.

I use a mix of pumice, lava rock, mini clayballs and sifted bark mulch.

Free draining and water retentive is the key for all bonsai. Other than that one needs to adapt watering to the substrate, season and species.

Only a newbie, but I used the soil it came in, mixed with pumice, Seramis clay and tree bark in a 1:1:1:1 mix. It’s doing great a year later.
