By the looks of the buds on it from last year after the chop, I don't think there will be a problem with back budding.
I'll give this tree a few weeks and then start.

thats unique for me..why dont you give the plant the oportunity to bare more brunch and leaves so it wouldnt look like sweet potato...but for its beautifull as it was, unique.. I like it.

A sweet potato haha. That is awesome. I am going to let it bear more branches. I really just need to carve out the dead wood and treat it.
