I gave the tree the old scratch test today......it failed on every single branch. Not a bit of green anywhere under the bark.
Lesson learned. Keep your trees away from cats and dogs.
I guess I have room for another tree....

Thanks. My trees are now on shelves on my deck where I cats or dogs can't get them. I'm going to hold off getting another juniper until next spring. I have enough to do with my substantially downsized brood. I culled them hard, and am pretty happy with the 12 I kept...that's right, I got rid of 12 or 14 trees.
So now that I have the room I can take my time and find something that I really want.
