Hi everybody.
Does anybody have experiences with cypress transplanting?
I found this Italian cypress near the sea under a cliff, and the erosion has brought it to the point where I believe I have the last months (before the 2017 summer) to save it or its root will be exposed and it will dry. Its about 5m tall and 10cm off crossaction on base.
I searched the net and found that the best time to transplant a cypress is in fall. The explanations basically say that's because the lower temperatures prevent major damages to the tree as it is going in its dormant state and because the humidity is still high which helps the roots to establish.
But is it maybe better to transplant it in the spring as there will be no problems regarding humidity as I will water it?
Thank you.

Ask permission first, then worry about how you're going to do it.

I asked for permission first and now its time to worry WHEN to do it. How it's no problem.

No clue. Nice surroundings though! You sure it is interesting enough to collect?

I think so. I would cut it low - above the first branches. Let that branch thicken in years and shape the deadwood from whats left of the trunk.

I thjink watering and humidity are note the same thing, so I'd follow the guidelines you found.
Other than that, I have no experience with cypress - or even with collecting trees from nature.
