Hello all;

I've just repotted a training boxwood to test a new bonsai soil mix, and will let you know how well it works.
Basically it is a mix:
- 60% Brazilian Akadama Qualitá (weird name, isn't it? In theory it's a substrate very similar to the original Akadama, I have never used it. That's why I am testing).
- 20% organic (with some limestone added for the Boxwood; it doesn't like acidic ph)
- 10% coarse river sand
- 10% cat litter (it holds humidity very well, I've been using it in various proportions with good results)

Yes, all thriving and beautiful.
It's been a very wet summer here in Brazil, so maybe it is not only the soil; trees are getting plenty of rainwater and good temperatures (around 20C~28C every day).
When it doesn't rain, temperatures go up easily, reaching 30C~35C.
I worry a lot about pots getting too hot in the afternoon sun...
