I have been using drip feeders to fertilise my chinese privet but one evening I arrived home to find that it had emptied itself into the soil. Since then it has been losing leaves. Is it best to repot with new soil or just try to rinse it through?

Excellent thanks. I've been soaking it and draining it repeatedly this afternoon. The first time I did it there was a greyish film on top of the water. It's grown a couple of new shoots from the roots since the leaves started dropping so hopefully it will be ok.
