I am new to bonsai and I have acquired many Japanese Bloodgood maple saplings and I am curious to know how to keep the tree small with a big trunk. Is there parts of the tree you cannot cut or parts of the tree that stunt it’s growth. I have attached an image to see if someone could explain to me how to cut them

Don't cut anything. First make sure these stay alive. This is not what happy bloodgolds look like.

How long should you wait to see if they live. Also what would my next steps be to make it look like this

Just to be sure.. You are not joking? You really think you can make this world-famous tree by W Pall from your seedlings?
Note: The tree is completely different. Bloodgold have a very different growthform

Where did you get them? Did you dig them up or what? It can be a few days to see that they are dead. But in some cases it takes a year to be sure.

The ones I have sent you I dug up but I have one that I purchased and is doing very well. The world famous tree photo I sent is just an example of trunk size and foliage I would like to achieve

Let it grow for a decade. Then spend 20 years building the canopies.

I would not use bloodgold for this.
Branching and foliage will never be as refined.

1: outside or they die, simple as that
2: keep them alive by giving them water and fertilise now and then. NOTHING ELSE
3: while you are doing 2 take the time to study some basic horticulture, and bonsai in general, what to do and when.

You grow the tree first to the desired trunk size. Then cut.

So for not all you need to know is how to grow a tree. That knowledge Will benefit the rest of you journey in this hobby.

Meanwhile, you can study how to create bonsai. I am sure you will have enough knowledge to do the cuts once it is time.

Basically your question is.. How do I grow bonsai. To answer that question, people spend years in courses and workshops.

You can cut back many trees, amongst which maples, which will then grow bark over the cut area.
Exactly how you get from a seedling to a bonsai.. It is a process of a decade or more with dozens of decisions. The first step is learning how to grow plants.
